iPhone 16 Pro Max questions, answered

The refurbished iPhone 16 Pro Max is absolutely still worth it in 2026. The A18 Pro chip was Apple's most powerful at launch and is purpose-built for Apple Intelligence. The 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR ProMotion display is one of the largest Apple has ever made, and 33-hour video playback sets a high bar for iPhone battery life. Now replaced by the iPhone 17 Pro Max, it's available at a meaningful discount vs. original retail and runs fully up-to-date iOS 26.
The two models share the same chip, cameras, and core features. The real differences:
Display: 6.3 inches on the Pro vs. 6.9 inches on the Pro Max
Battery: Pro Max delivers up to 33 hours of video playback; the Pro delivers up to 27 hours
Camera: Both share the same triple-camera setup: 48MP main + 48MP ultra-wide + 12MP 5x telephoto
Internals: Both run the A18 Pro chip with Camera Control, Action button, and full Apple Intelligence support
Form factor: The Pro Max is heavier and larger — a real consideration for one-handed use and pocket fit

Yes. Every iPhone 16 Pro Max on Zaltova ships unlocked, so it works with all major US carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. The US model is eSIM-only (no physical SIM tray) and supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and Ultra Wideband. It can store 8+ eSIM profiles and run 2 simultaneously. The refurbishment process doesn't affect eSIM functionality in any way.
Apple Intelligence is Apple's built-in AI system: writing tools, image generation, an enhanced Siri, and Visual Intelligence. It requires an A17 Pro chip or newer to run. The iPhone 16 Pro Max's A18 Pro chip fully qualifies, with a 16-core Neural Engine designed specifically for on-device AI processing. Refurbished units support Apple Intelligence without any restrictions — software features aren't affected by refurbishment status. A quick iOS update is all it takes.
Manufacturing a new smartphone generates approximately 84 kg of CO2e on average. Choosing a refurbished iPhone instead avoids roughly 92% of those emissions — saving approximately 77 kg of CO2e per device (manufacturing phase). That extends the phone's life and keeps it out of the e-waste stream. Across every refurbished device sold since 2014, Zaltova has helped avoid 2.2 million tons of CO2e emissions collectively.
Zaltova is a dedicated marketplace for professionally refurbished tech. Every order on the refurbished iPhone 16 series comes with:
Less expensive than buying new meaningful savings vs. the original retail price
12-month commercial warranty on every device, regardless of condition grade
30 days to change your mind on any order
Up-to-100-point professional inspection on every device before it ships
Strict quality charter that every seller must meet to list on the platform

The iPhone 16 Pro Max arrives as Apple’s 2024 flagship, fusing a large, vibrant display with the latest hardware upgrades under the hood. Being hot off the assembly line in 2024, it stands at the peak of Apple’s current generation—no “getting two or three years old” here, and the spec list proves it.

Key features:

Release Date: September 2024
Display: 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED, ProMotion (up to 120Hz)
Processor: Apple A18 Pro chip with next-gen Neural Engine
Camera: Triple rear camera system: 48MP main (wide) with quad-pixel sensor, 12MP ultra-wide, 12MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom
Operating System: Ships with iOS 18
Build: Textured matte glass and titanium frame
Connectivity: 5G support, Wi-Fi 6E, and Ultra Wideband (UWB)
Audio: Spatial Audio, dual speakers
Security: Face ID

Who is this for?

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is built for users who want every bit of Apple’s innovation in one—photographers needing advanced camera tools, professionals after pro-level performance, and anyone who prefers a large display for entertainment or productivity. Compared to earlier generations like the iPhone 14 Pro Max, this model packs more processing power, an even larger screen, and upgrades for pro-grade content capture. If you prefer a more pocket-friendly phone or don’t regularly use advanced camera or AI features, previous-generation models may be a better fit (and easier on your wrists).

Pros & Cons: Pros Cons Expansive 6.9-inch display with high refresh rate for smooth visuals. Size can be unwieldy for one-handed use or small pockets. Top-tier camera system ideal for photography and video. No headphone jack (yes, still...) Fast Apple A18 Pro chip for multitasking and demanding apps. Heavyweight design—might not suit those looking for something ultra-light.

Choosing a refurbished iPhone 16 Pro Max does more than keep a powerful device in circulation—it also keeps unnecessary waste out of landfills. Every pre-owned device from Zaltova is thoroughly inspected and tested, giving you peace of mind on reliability. Learn more about our quality standards.
