My mom has arthritis and has trouble working touch screens so when her beloved kindle “with the buttons” died she was discouraged because it’s an older model and she didn’t think it could be replaced. The battery was totally bad. Should have expected that for an 11 year old item. You can buy new one on Amazon. Also- you have to call Amazon to register because even after you update the software their is some glitch. BUT - in the end it all worked -which for an 11 year old item is great.
